He made history by signing a $1.9 million contract. •1970 - named NCAA’s college basketball player of the year •1974 - Pete was traded to the expansion team, the New Orleans Jazz •1977 - Pete missed 32 games this season due to a variety of knee issues •1979 - The Jazz headed to Salt Lake City and became the Utah Jazz •Jan. 17, 1980 - Pete was waived by the Jazz and was picked up a few days later by the Boston Celtics as a free agent.
